Talk to your Gold Coast air-conditioner specialist about running costs before you choose the type and location of your air conditioning unit. The size of your family, and how much you use different areas of the house, may result in significant savings on costs. For example, a whole-house reverse cycle air conditioner can cost up to 90 cents per hour to run in a poorly insulated house, while a single room air conditioner may be nearer 35 cents per hour; if you live alone and spend most of your time in one room, you can save significant sums by air conditioning just that one room.

A 2-3 star reverse cycle air conditioner can cost between 30 and 34 cents an hour to run, while a 4-5 star reverse cycle air conditioner can cost between 34 and 38 cents an hour.

A ducted reverse cycle air conditioner with a zoning system costs 36 and 54 cents per hour, while a whole-house reverse cycle air conditioning will cost between 63 and 91 cents per hour.

In contrast, a fan or an evaporative cooler will cost around two cents per hour to run; so if you have both air-conditioners and fans, only run the air-conditioning when necessary.

Factors that impact on these running costs include insulation; A house that is well insulated will obviously cost less to cool than a house that has no insulation. The installation of your air conditioner by your Gold Coast air-conditioner specialist is also a factor, depending on how well it is sealed.

The other major factor is the temperature at which your air conditioners set. For each degree you raise the temperature you can save up to 5% on air conditioning costs.

Keeping your filters clean will obviously help, as the air conditioner has to work much harder if it is operating through a layer of dust.

Another money saver is closing curtains and blinds, particularly those facing the sun. If you have a window mounted air conditioner, then you obviously need to keep the door to that room closed.

Choosing a competent Gold Coast air-conditioner specialist will obviously help, as they can advise you on many of these factors and discuss with you the most appropriate location and type of air conditioning.

The chief gauge of the efficiency of any insulation is its R-Value. Insulation is designed to prevent the flow of heat. The more heat the insulation stops, the higher the R-Value of that insulation.

When compared to fiberglass batt insulation, spray foam insulation has a higher R-value at a given thickness. So this tells us that if we were to put 2 inches of spray foam insulation in the roof that you would have much better insulation properties than  if you installed 2 inches of fiberglass batt  insulation.

Another insulation type which is known as cellulose fill whether it is blown in or applied by hand, also has a higher R-value than fiberglass insulation of the same thickness. This still doesn't compare to the R-value of spray foam insulation though, as it is almost twice as high as the cellulose fill insulation of a comparable thickness.

R-value is truly important yes, but it is not the only factor that you want to bring into consideration when trying to choose the best insulation for your home. Moisture will cause both fiberglass batts and cellulose fill to lose R-value. Just a small amount of moisture is enough to cancel out the insulating properties of fiberglass batt and cellulose.

Neither cellulose fill or fiberglass will be able to give you the 100% caverage that you really need with your insulation The fact that heat is allowed to pass through these gaps is obvious, but these facts are not computed into the R-values of these two materials. In other words, the actual R-value of installed fiberglass batt or cellulose fill roof insulation is lower than the listed R-value.

Benefits of Spray Foam Insulation

There are no adverse actions of spray foam if it gets some moisture on it. A really cool thing is that it can even prevent leaks in your home as the stuff expands to fill every gap, crack, and crevase effectively sealing your entire roof. If for some reason your home is exposed to pollutants or other harmful airborne things, your foam insulation will effectively keep it out whereas the gaps that are left behind with the fiberglass and cellulose will let it through.

The best part of spray foam insulation is the fact that it isn't really anymore expensive than your traditional insulation materials.

Geothermal heating and cooling offers a easy to maintain and affordable solution to climate control. At a base level, geothermal energy in the core of the planet can provide energy to help regulate indoor temperatures all year round without reliable upon traditional fossil fuels.

Many homes now have geothermal heat pumps to provide a primary or supplemental source of heating or cooling for their home. With improving technology, a number of developed countries including China and Sweden are leading the way in direct applications of geothermal energy to homes and buildings.

Before I continue I just wanted to let you know about this site with tons of information on geothermal energy, visit: Atlanta Geothermal.

Due to rising awareness of the need for efficient energy, many people are adopting geothermal energy ideas. New developments provide us with improved techniques to utilize geothermal energy in heating businesses and homes.

Many people are adopting geothermal technology because of the long term savings benefits. You can easily save 50% or more on the cost of heating your home with a fully functional heat pump system. Government and utility companies are currently offering huge tax incentives for going with geothermal technology.

The direct application of geothermal energy to home energy systems through ground heat pumps has earned the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) seal of approval. Simple laws of physics and economic trends have given incentive for the adoption of the technology for many homes and businesses. Since the temperature within the ground remains relatively stable around 55 degrees Fahrenheit, the differential between these temperatures and general climate conditions helps to regulate internal environments. Also including rebate incentives from the federal government, many households have actively integrated geothermal systems to lower their heating and cooling bills substantially.

Want to know more about geothermal heat pumps? Ground Source Heat Pump.

Though every household is different in size and geographic location, on average replacing your traditional system with a heat pump can save you around ,000 a year or more. Geothermal heat pumps improve energy transfer by up to 300% compared to standard furnaces. Especially for larger homes, these savings can be very substantial.

Using an underground water cycle, a ground source heat pump acts as the center of the geothermal heating and cooling system. The ground temperature impacts the refrigerant in the heat pump, resulting in energy that can help heat or cool a home. The geothermal heat pump is an improvement on the traditional heat pump that has to generate its own energy. The regular underground temperatures are different based on geographic location.

If you would like some free geothermal energy information visit Geothermal Cooling and Heating.

Many households are able to generate energy from the systems at less than The long term savings are driving consumers and big business to adopt geothermal systems to be economically and environmentally friendly.04 kWh, which is often half the cost of standard fossil fuel based heating systems.
